What is ZOOM! teeth whitening? ZOOM! is a bleaching process that lightens the dentin and the teeth enamel. What causes tooth discoloration? Teeth can become stained and discolored due to a variety of staining agents such as coffee, wine, tobacco, and soft drinks. Is ZOOM! teeth whitening safe? Research and case studies indicate that ZOOM! is safe under the supervision of a dentist. Some dentists believe it may be the safest cosmetic dental procedure currently available. ZOOM! is not recommended for children under 13 years of age, or for pregnant or lactating women. How long do the ZOOM! results last? Your teeth will always be lighter than they were before as long as you continue flossing, brushing twice daily, and occasionally touch-up your teeth with take-home whitening trays. How long does it take and what should I expect? The ZOOM! procedure will be two hours or less. We will take impressions for your take home whitening trays, and then we will isolate your teeth so your gums are protected from the gel and ZOOM! light. The procedure is three 20 minute cycles, and then you will be done! Does ZOOM! have any side effects? Sensitivity may occur during or after treatment. You may also experience tingling immediately after the procedure for the first 24 hours but this will dissipate.
