Gentle Dentistry for Kids
When should my child first see the dentist?
We start to see children at 3 years old. By that time, a child should have 10 teeth on top and 10 teeth on bottom. Remember that tooth decay can occur as soon as the child’s first tooth has erupted, so you should begin brushing with a fluoride free toothpaste.
What do I do if my child is scared to go to the dentist?
We recommend that you try to schedule a morning appointment when your child is most rested and cooperative. We do not recommend bribing a child to visit the dentist. Also, never use the visit as a threat or punishment. Stay positive and make the visit an enjoyable outing.
What if my child injures or breaks a tooth?
Try to stay calm and call us immediately for an emergency visit.
